Gas Check

Although propane is a safe and economical fuel, it's very important that your entire propane system be properly maintained. A GASCheck® inspection, performed by Aleutian Propane Sales, includes checking such things as your tank, piping regulator, gauges, connectors, valves, vents, thermostats, pilots, burners, appliance controls, and then pressure-testing to be sure that the entire system is leak-free. You're informed of worn or damaged equipment and changes that will give long-term benefits. We explain the safest, most economical way to operate your system. And we teach you how to recognize the odor of propane and steps to follow in the event of an emergency. Our professionally trained technicians who have the skills and experience necessary to spot existing problems perform this service. Checking a propane system is not a do-it-yourself project. Insist on safety. With a GASCheck®, your system will operate at peak efficiency, safely.

The propane industry offers an award-winning national preventive maintenance program for homeowners called GASCheck® (Gas Appliance System Check). GASCheck®is a registered trademark and stands for Gas Appliance System (GAS) Check.

GASCheck® is an important home safety program that was developed by the National Propane Gas Association and the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association to educate consumers on propane safety. Home appliance and fuel systems need regular check-ups to keep them running properly.

Propane gas professionals received advanced training in service and safety at industry-sponsored service and safety schools each year. This commitment to ongoing training means your propane gas professional can help with a wide range of repair and service needs. During a
GASCheck®, a trained technician inspects your propane gas appliances to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently.

What happens during a GAS Check?

1. GASCheck® is a one to two hour safety check of your propane gas appliances and fuel system. The results of this thorough check are presented to you, the homeowner, in understandable, everyday terms.

2. Nearly 4,000 propane suppliers nationwide support and offer the
GASCheck® program.

3. The condition of the tank, piping, regulator, gauges, connectors, valves, vents, thermostats, pilots, burners and appliance controls is checked.

4. Your entire propane system is checked to ensure that everything satisfied local regulations and industry standards and that there aren't any leaks. You will also be familiarized with the distinctive odor of propane.

5. You are informed of any worn or damaged equipment that should be replaced, and options for correcting the problem are discussed.

6. Recommendations for any improvements that will be of long-term benefit to your system are reviewed.

7. Finally, you are advised of the most efficient and safest way to operate your propane system. The technician also provides you with instructional materials for handling possible emergencies and steps to follow if you should smell the odor of gas.

8. The NPGA has produced a series of training videos to prepare gas technicians and service personnel for conducting a proper
GASCheck® in your home. This is to ensure that you receive the most thorough and efficient GAS Check possible.

9.
GASCheck® has been so successful that it is nationally recognized as an important safety program. In fact, the National Fire Protection Association awarded its Organization Member Award to the NPGA for its GASCheck® program as the best example of a public fire safety program.
